Freddy’s – I cannot be in Paris without a stop at Freddy’s. This Saint-Germain-des-Prés mainstay is from the same group that owns Semilla (elevated bistro fare next door), La Boissonnerie (seafood restaurant across the street) and La Dernière Goutte (wine store around the corner.) You won’t need to leave the block because they truly have you covered! Freddy’s just feels like home. The antique bar with charcuterie hanging in the glass cabinet, the perfect wines by-the-glass for their tapas style menu, and a feeling of being with all your friends under the same bar roof. On a warm day with the glass doors open, or on a rainy evening where everyone is packed in tight, Freddy’s does not disappoint.

Bar Etna – Space is at an absolute premium in this small but mighty wine bar in the 6th arrondissement, conveniently around the corner from Freddy’s! Plan a bang bang (iykyk), because seating may be tough at the small bar and four, count them four, tables. Grab a glass and stand by with the locals, you’ll feel like you live there even if for just one night. Plus you never know if they’ll have Emidio Pepe open, possibly some COS skin contact bianco. Their taste is legendary.

Septime La Cave – It’s hard to imagine a better place to pop natural wine corks and grab a cheese & charcuterie plate while you want for your table at Septime or Clamato. Truth is, you may not want to leave once your table is ready. With a dozen or so wines by-the-glass you’ll be able to work your way through the list while watching the cool cats of the Marais stroll by. septime-lacave.fr

Chez Nous – From its perch right across from the Seine, Chez Nous is yet another Bar à Vins located in the 6th arrondissement that you cannot miss. The exposed stone walls make you feel like you’re inside a centuries old wine cellar, and the animation on the patio will inspire you to sip and dream of never leaving this energetic city. Owners Robin and Arthur showcase their passion for natural and biodynamic wine, sourcing from small production wineries in France, Spain and Italy.

Dix Visions de la Joie – Translating to “Ten Visions of Joy”, the name is a play on the band Joy Division. The wine bar and shop operates out of the 20th arrondissement. Get there early so you can sit on their epic patio, and prepare for the parade of 70s and 80s rock n roll that’s going to be blasting from the speakers. If you prefer a table inside, the wood and earth tones make it the perfect hang for some oysters and Muscadet, or perhaps the Gravlax with Saumur Rouge. Leaving here without a huge smile is not an option.
