A high tea is being held in observance of World Elder Abuse Awareness day.
It is being held at the Prince George & District Senior Citizens Activity Centre Society from 1:00 – 3:00 tomorrow (Wednesday).
Nicole Currie, a PG Council of Seniors spokesperson, told My PG Now the event will feature live music and entertainment and desserts to accompany the tea.
As it is a high tea, she also said people can wear their “Sunday best,” if they wish.
The tea will also be used to raise awareness to “abuse that seniors may endure,” Currie explained. “It could be physical, emotional, mental, it could be people taking financial advantages of seniors.”
This is the first time the Council of Seniors has held a tea to recognize the day, Currie said she hopes it is “more fun, and will encourage our seniors to come out an socialize – get out in the community again.”
