All Stars 8 has come to an end and a new queen has officially entered the Drag Race All Stars Hall of Fame. But now that the glitter has settled runner up Kandy Muse is spilling the tea about the finale that could have been, and the explosive reveal she planned, but that was forbidden.
In the finale, Kandy went head to head with Canada’s Drag Race alum Jimbo in a battle for the crown, with a lipsync to Sylvester’s “Do You Wanna Funk?” Despite struggling all season long in the lipsync — losing six of her eight performances — Jimbo managed to edge out Kandy and took home the prize. Now Kandy is sharing that she had a reveal that didn’t make it into the show, but very well could have flipped the results.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly’s Quick Drag podcast, Kandy revealed that she had a bra that shot sparks and fire, but that it was forbidden by production. “I was going to do this on season 13 at the finale, and then I [didn’t] have the time, and I was going to do this for the finale of All Stars,” she explained.
“Have you ever watched [Lady Gaga’s] The Monster Ball, when Gaga comes out from the floor during ‘Paparazzi’ with the fire tits?… I planned to do that with the silver outfit I had for the finale, but, apparently, to have fire on television, you need a license.”
Naturally, fans of Muse will be heartbroken to know that things could have ended very differently on All Stars for the New Yorker. However, Kandy shared that even though she didn’t take home the crown plenty of exciting opportunities have headed her way since returning to Drag Race, including auditions for movie roles.
Fireworks bra or not Kandy is a winner, baby. After all, everyone knows losing is the new winning.
