JDE Peet’s plans to buy Maratá’s coffee and tea businesses in Brazil, boosting the emerging-markets focus of the world’s second-biggest coffee producer.
JDE Peet’s announced the purchase in a statement Monday. The company already has three manufacturing plants in the country and the Maratá businesses, which are predominantly in the north, will complement its existing brands, which are mostly sold in the southern regions of Brazil.
