A giant beer garden that attracts an estimated 1 million visitors every summer has opened in Sapporo, in Japan’s northernmost prefecture of Hokkaido.
The event is being held at a park that runs through the center of the city that gives its name to one of the country’s four major beer brands. It started on Friday.
Visitors can choose their tipple from more than 100 varieties of beer from Japan and overseas.
This year the event is free of the anti-coronavirus measures that were in place for the last festival. There are over 10,000 seats, more than double the number last year.
One woman enjoying a beer said that having a cold drink when it’s hot makes it taste even more delicious.
The beer garden will be open through August 16th.
